Short Course Preparatory Course for Medical and Dental Programs

Preparatory Course for Medical and Dental Programs taught in English is organized by Medical University in Lodz for the international students planning to apply for medical and dentistry programs in order to repeat and improve their knowledge required on the entrance exam. It also aims at making up the differences of candidates’ knowledge in the prerequisite subjects to help them in their first year of studies.

Short Course Preparatory/Foundation Year

Applicants who were not admitted to the regular degree program and who require additional instruction or review in basic sciences can join the Preparatory Course/Foundation year organized by the Faculty of Medicine to prepare for the entrance examination. The precondition for acceptance to the Preparatory Course is oral and written competence in English language (level: eg. TOEFL IBT – score: min. 85 /IELTS – score: min. 6.5), furthermore basic knowledge in natural sciences. Duration: 8 months, Starting date: October.

This course unit aims to enable the system, within which dental services are planned and delivered, to understand the opportunities for improvement and to anticipate and address the barriers to change.

Dentistry aims to ensure proper conditions of the oral cavity and deals with diagnosis, prevention and treatment of oral diseases. Dentistry specialisations include health dentistry, paediatric dentistry, oral and maxillofacial radiology and surgery, prosthodontics, periodontics, orthodontics, dental implantation, dental aesthetics and more.

Curriculums of dentistry degrees offer students specialized knowledge about: head and neck anatomy, surgical appliances technique, teeth morphology, braces and plates technology, teeth implant surgery, orofacial sensitivity, forensic dentistry, biomaterials and ergonomics in oral diseases. Students will also have the opportunity to get involved in special practices programmes providing dental care for patients under the direct supervision of professional dentists. Dentistry graduates will have to cover the following skills: good manual dexterity, good visual memory, problem solving skills for diagnosing oral diseases and recommending the best treatment and interpersonal skills.

Graduates can find work in private clinics or hospitals. The main work areas are detection of diseases, aesthetic improvements, completing oral treatment options and plans, public education and hygiene.
