Some students may be still involved in the analysis of the CDF data, within the CDF Physics groups. For some students the internship may take place in other US Laboratories or Universities.
The internship of Engineering, Computing Science, and Materials Science students takes place in the Fermilab Accelerator Division (AD), Techical Division (TD), Computing Division (CD), or in groups involved in technological and applied research of other laboratories and universities within the US.
Each student has a supervisor responsabile of her/his training program and has to give a first oral presentation after 4 weeks of permanence at Fermilab, to show adequate progress of her/his research program, a second oral presentation and write a detailed report at the conclusion of the program. Since 2010 Fermilab keeps an online record of the summer students' training programs.
There is no better description of the research opportunities offered by our program than reading these training programs. In some cases of mutual interest, the 9-week internship has been extended to a few months contract at the laboratory in preparation of a Master Degree Thesis. The Summer Student at Fermilab and other US Laboratories course is offered by the University of Pisa.
Engineering students will be trained in the Fermilab Accelerator Division, Technical Division or Computing Division or in groups working on applied research in other US Laboratories or Universities.
Each intern will be supervised by a Mentor, an employee of the US Labotatory. The Mentor is responsible of the entire Training Program of the intern for the 9 weeks of permanence on the US soil. Each intern will present a written report which will be object of evaluation by a University of Pisa Committee.
Master Degree students or recentely Master Degree graduates in Physics, Engineering, Astronomy, Astrophysics, Computing Science, and Material Science.
