I. Excellence Science and Research in Data Science and Management Research Methods
The ACISS Summer School offers a unique set of courses designed to meet the needs of novice and advanced researchers in research methods ranging from qualitative research and academic publishing to scale development and data mining. All classes will be highly interactive, method-, and application-oriented. Outstanding instructors from PennState, the University of Chile, the University of Leeds, the University of Vienna, and RWTH Aachen University will deliver the courses. All courses have been designed to equip you with insights into state-of-the-art research methods and supporting software packages. You will also have the opportunity to apply these insights in order to solve hands-on research problems and to discuss your findings with your peers. What better way to prepare for your empirical master thesis, PhD project, and journal publication?
II. MentoringDuring the week long courses, participants will have the opportunity to get in touch with their respective lecturer to discuss their own research projects. Current research projects or dissertations can be presented to receive feedback from a qualified third party.
III. Get-together with Researchers
All participants of the ACISS programme are invited to take part in get-togethers with researchers and academic staff at the RWTH Aachen University. There is a wide offer of intercultural activities and excursions in and around Aachen enjoy your stay!

5 ECTS per Module
The ACISS programme offers seven intensive courses on quantitative and qualitative research methods with an attractive course format:
All courses will be highly interactive and will comprise classroom discussions, student presentations, and in some cases also computer lab sessions. The courses have been selected and designed to help you acquire hands-on research skills in topics such as qualitative research, grounded theory, academic publishing, advanced econometrics, data mining, and scale development. These skills will prove most helpful for designing and conducting empirical research projects for instance as part of your master thesis, PhD research, or later professional life.
This programme requires students to demonstrate proficiency in English.Take IELTS test
The ACISS Summer School is open for application to all PhD and advanced master students, as well as post-docs and interested researchers. It is offered by the RWTH Aachen University’s School of Business and Economics. However, we invite interested researchers from all disciplines,to participate in the Summer School. The method-oriented curriculum allows participation without a broad understanding of management and economics research.
Please note: The minimum age to participate is 18 years.
An English language proficiency test is recommended but not mandatory. Since the programme is taught in English, we trust that you bring sufficient academic English language skills to be able to follow the course.

The fees for the one-week module of ACISS-programme amount to EUR 750.
