Topics: the Art of Editing, Lighting and Video Technique from The American University of Paris deals with looking at rushes, selecting shots, cutting, creating the structure, finding the rhythm, working with sound, analyzing rules and conventions and how and when to break them. Other essential film techniques, in particular, techniques in lighting are also studied and practiced. The workshop provides a hands-on opportunity for students.

Personal statement
In a maximum of 300 words, in English, please briefly describe your interest in spending your summer in Paris at AUP, including information about the course(s) you wish to take.
Official transcripts

If you are applying for credit, or are currently a student, AUP requires official transcripts from your last three years of schooling. Transcript(s) include your grades/marks and examination results (if applicable) through your most recently completed semester or grading period. Transcripts can be submitted in English or French, or be accompanied by a certified translation. When you apply you can submit unofficial transcripts online, but if you are admitted to AUP, you will need to submit official final transcripts and examination results before begin your classes.

If you are a professional wanting to audit a class and have completed a tertiary degree, you can upload a copy of your degree in the place of transcripts.
English language test
Almost all courses at The American University of Paris are taught in English, so entering students must demonstrate sufficient English fluency. If English is not your first language, we require that you submit one of the following tests and that the results are not more than two years old.

To schedule a test in your area, please contact one of these language test organizations:

  • TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language). To have your results sent directly to The American University of Paris, use our institutional code 0866.
  • TOEIC (Test of English of International Communications). To have your results sent directly to The American University of Paris, use our institutional code 0866.
  • IELTS (International English Language Testing System)—Academic Option
The English language test requirement is waived if you have been living in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, the United Kingdom or the Unites States where you have recently studied in an all-English curriculum for at least two consecutive years. It is also waived if you are only taking the French Immersion program. It may also be waived if you have studied for at least four years in an all-English curriculum in any other country. We reserve the right to request English test results from any applicant.
