Delivered through online distance learning, this Postgraduate Certificate programme – which can be combined to form an MSc degree – offer you an innovative route to gaining understanding and skills to address the complex, interrelated problems facing the world today. The programme draws on the University’s best research and teaching to deliver a programme that is flexible, challenging and cutting edge in content, delivery and ambition.

You’ll examine a variety of case studies to shed light on strategies for addressing some of the most pressing global challenges of our time.

Programme Structure

You will learn through a mix of online methods, including video lectures, study guides, self directed and guided reading, and a range of interactive online reflection and discussion activities. You will be part of a vibrant and supportive virtual community.

English Language Requirements

You only need to take one of these language tests:

  • Minimum required score: 7

    The IELTS – or the International English Language Test System – tests your English-language abilities (writing, listening, speaking, and reading) on a scale of 1.00–9.00. The minimum IELTS score requirement refers to which Overall Band Score you received, which is your combined average score. Read more about IELTS.

  • Minimum required score (Grade A): 200

    The CAE test – or the Cambridge Advanced English – is an exam for applicants who wish to get a Certificate in Advanced English. To receive the Advanced certificate, test-takers must score between 142 and 210 on the Cambridge English: Advanced test. Read more about CAE.

    Note: degree programmes and applications may require a more specific minimum score for admission.

  • Minimum required score: 100

    The TOEFL – or Test Of English as a Foreign Language – offers an internet-based test (iBT). The final, overall iBT score ranges between 0 and 120, and includes a scaled average from the four components (reading, listening, speaking, and writing). Read more about TOEFL (iBT).

Academic Requirements

The academic entry requirement is a UK Bachelor Honours degree with at least 2:1 or its international equivalent.

An official transcript and certificate (if the degree has been awarded) is required upon application. References are not required upon initial application but may be requested at a later stage in the application process.

Where work experience is taken into consideration, an up-to-date CV and work reference is required.
