The courses, which form the academic part of our program, are not only designed to educate participants in the highly popular fields of intellectual property and biotechnology, but also to inspire them. The interdisciplinary program is designed for postgraduates, undergraduates with some basic knowledge in the area of biotechnology, and young professionals, who want to learn about the European way of dealing with the challenges of the new and developing industry. Furthermore, it is attractive for people who want to gain some first-hand experience with German and European culture. All seminars are taught in English by internationally established academics and practitioners. Furthermore, students will attend German language courses of different levels according to their previous knowledge.
The Hessen International Summer University in Intellectual Property & Biotechnology - Linking Law, Business and Science program at Justus Liebig University Giessen combines high-quality teaching with a wide range of cultural and social activities. In addition to the academic courses, we offer various field trips: two on-site visits to international biotechnology companies (Merck and EMBL), a three-day trip to Hamburg and a three-day trip to Berlin, these will add more practical elements to the content learned in class. The students will visit some of the most beautiful places in Germany during these trips. Above all, studying abroad will broaden one's horizon. Participants will gain intercultural knowledge because of the interaction with their fellow students but most important, they will spend a great time in an international environment.
