The title of your eventual qualification will depend on which module(s) you choose. You can study any two modules (30 credits each) or one module (30 credits) and a dissertation (30 credits). The University's Admissions Office will contact you to confirm your choices. Please note that, at this stage your application will just say 'Archeology Postgraduate Certificate'

Group A: Archaeology and Heritage modules

Take any two of the following for a Postgraduate Certificate in Archaeology and Heritage.

  • Landscape Archaeology
  • Managing Archaeological Practices
  • Archaeology of Standing Buildings (also in Group B)
  • Critical Approaches to the Archaeological Heritage
Group B: Historical Archaeology modules

Take any two of the following for a Postgraduate Certificate in Historical Archaeology.

  • Doing Historical Archaeology (also in Group C)
  • Archaeology of the Modern World
  • The Historical Archaeology of England (field-based)
  • Archaeology of Standing Buildings (also in Group A)
Group C: Classical Mediterranean Studies modules

Take any two of the following for a Postgraduate Certificate in Classical Mediterranean Studies.

Academic Requirements

A degree in Archaeology, Ancient History, Classical Studies or cognate subjects with appropriate content or equivalent professional qualifications or experience. Those with a first degree in other subjects may take some of our undergraduate distance learning modules as bridging courses to postgraduate study.
