Overview
The Institute of Nursing provides an exciting opportunity for nurses and other health professionals interested or engaged in qualitative or quantitative research. In 2011, the first of a series of Summer Schools in Qualitative Research Methodology took place in Winterthur. This year the Quantitative Research Methodology will be focused.
These Summer Schools will be held at an advanced level and focus on one particular research tradition at the time, offering workshops and lectures from international experts in the field.
The Summer School is a joint venture of the Research & Development and the Continuing Education Units at the Institute of Nursing. The institute aims to promote excellence in nursing research and education.

Evidence based practice through quantitative research

The 2015 International Summer School offers hands-on professional development in quantitative research methodology for health practitioners with basic research training and/or experience.
This workshop is for health professionals who want to learn more about practical applications of quantitative research methods in the health sciences to improve their evidence based practice by
- building up their skills to critically appraise published scientific articles, and
- studying and applying the tool-kit necessary to start and develop their own health research projects.

- In depth discussion of experimental and observational design options, together with their corresponding measures of association
- Interactive group work on critical appraisal of published research

- Review the principals of systematic literature reviews and meta-analyses
