The UCL Institute of Education (IOE) is ranked first in the world for education (QS World University Subject Ranking 2014) and first in the UK for education research (Research Assessment Exercise).

In December 2014, the IOE became a School of UCL and is now the UCL Institute of Education. Student's Union (SU)
The Student's Union is one of the IOE's main social centres for students and is a central part of student life. The Union offers a range of facilities located in a modern, self-contained unit within the Institute's main building. There is a shop, bar, café and meeting rooms available for student societies to use.
Students at the IOE can utilise a full range of support services from both the Student's Union and the Student Support Centre. The latter can provide advice and assistance on a whole range of issues including accommodation, fees, childcare, career guidance and academic support.
The Newsam Library
The Newsam Library at the IOE is the finest education library in Europe. Its world-renowned archive has an extensive collection of current and historical materials on education and related areas of social science. In fact, the library collection contains a copy of every book on education published in the UK and a substantial range of books from other countries.
The IOE uses the services of University of London Careers Group for career guidance advice. The group provides advice and guidance on how to start looking for a job, preparing resumes and offers interview advice.
The IOE Alumni Association connects graduates from the Institute all over the world. Being part of the alumni network gives our graduates excellent networking and social opportunities with likeminded education professionals.

The IOE is based in Bloomsbury, the intellectual and cultural heart of London. The British Museum and the British Library are based a few minutes walk from the IOE. The British Library has a copy of every book ever published in the English language. The IOE is on the doorstep of Londons famous West End district, containing world-class theatres, restaurants, museums and galleries. IOE students have the opportunity to live amongst this history and culture, and to contribute to it. Every year we welcome around 1000 international students to our programmes.

The University of London Union is a natural meeting point for students across the 19 colleges of the University of London, and is located five minutes from the IOE. There are a number of well-served transport options in London including the tube, trains and buses, stretching across the UK and throughout mainland Europe. Its a perfect base for exploring the continent.
