The school offer an international exchange experience to students of the University of Pisa (UNIPI), University of Illinois at Urbana – Champaign (UIUC) and San Diego State University (SDSU).The program offers 5 ""five weeks"" courses:

1) two in Pisa at UNIPI from 15th May to 18th June for students from: 1.a) UIUC: the students will attend a class of Energy systems, and a class of Italian culture and language (elementary level) at the Language Centre; 1.b) SDSU: the students will attend a class of Numerical analysis and a class of Italian culture and language (elementary level) that include the topic on diversity related to the ""Role of women in Italian history"");

2) Two in USA from 27th August to 29th September: 2.a) Urbana, UIUC: the students will attend a class of Energy systems (NPRE201) and a class of English culture and language (mid - high level); 2.b) San Diego, SDSU: the students will attend a class of a) Computer Programming and Applications (ME 202) (or specific topic on Corrosion and Protection of materials) and a class of English culture and language (mid - high level).

Programme Structure

The classes usually run from Monday through Thursday. Friday is devoted to technical visit and seminar in labs and industries. The weekends are devoted to the cultural visit of main local cities and attractionsThe students are required to attend all the lectures of the classes.The STEP in USA is open also to students of other Italian Universities upon evaluation of the STEP Committee.

Academic Requirements

  • The Summer School is open to university students and professionals. Students preparing for Italian Universities enrolment may also apply (min. 18 years old).
  • For the Italian students: be enrolled at any engineering class from last year of bachelor and graduate students;
  • For UIUC and SDSU students: be enrolled be enrolled at any engineering class at their home university.
