Now a 21st Century mecca for creatives and a capital of an influential European powerhouse, Germany, since the 1900s Berlin has held several distinct identities and is a city many associate with one of humanity’s most destructive political regimes. Severely damaged in World War II, cruelly divided by a wall, it has emerged as one of Europe’s most dynamic cities and is a destination of choice for the young and minorities.

This 5-day study tour will immerse you in Berlin’s unique history, culture & economy and its resourceful nature as a city of reinvention. Germany is a key actor in the geopolitics of 2017 so this course examines how Germany provides leadership of the European project post Brexit and debate the likelihood that it may assume the mantle of guarantor of the liberal democratic order in the West’s emerging political landscape. It will also examine Berlin’s role in the social and political impacts of rising migration.
