About

In the last stages of your PhD, it is time to broaden your professional horizon. What is your next career move after finishing my PhD? Do you want to stay in academia or take the step to corporate life? Which competences do you need (to develop) to succeed in your current and/or future job? The Career Assessment programme is offered at the Wageningen University and Research.

Overview

Key facts:

  • A Career Assessment can assist you in answering these questions. It consists of different questionnaires that measure skills, competences, strengths and weaknesses, career values and team roles.
  • A career coach will give personal advice, based on the results of these tests. The career assessment also provides the opportunity to start working on a (career) action plan.
  • Depending on the results, candidates can be advised to follow certain training or workshop that will help in improving necessary skills, or attend personal coaching sessions.
  • This Career Assessment from the Wageningen University and Research is also part of the course Career Perspectives, so if you would like to follow this course, you do not have to take this assessment separately.
  • For PhD candidates that have already taken the assessment at the start of their PhD, the results of this assessment will also be taken into account in the career assessment. The assessment coach will look into progress made on points of attention that were mentioned in the first assessment.

Programme Structure

  • You will be asked to hand in your curriculum vitae in advance.
  • After registration you will receive the questionnaires and will be asked to return these to Meijer en Meijaard.
  • Within two weeks after completing the questionnaires you will be invited for a personal meeting of 1.5-2 hours.
  • You will receive a test report before the meeting.
  • After the personal meeting you will receive a final rapport with conclusions and recommendations
This Career Assessment gives PhD's insight in:
  • Their personal skills, competencies, strengths and weaknesses
  • Future career possibilities based on personal skills and competences
  • In what needs to be developed and how to do so
