About

This three-year Ontario College Advanced Diploma Architectural Technology program at Algonquin College prepares students for careers in architectural offices and the building industry. The program of study integrates the relationship between conceptual solutions and contract documents.

Overview

The first 2 years of the technology program are common to the Architectural Technician program. These two years are followed by an additional year of study concentrating on large buildings.

Learning outcomes

The Architectural Technology curriculum at Algonquin College emphasizes an in-depth understanding of the many facets of building and construction including residential and commercial building envelope design, working drawings, construction documentation, construction methods and materials and computer-assisted design and drafting. In their final year students participate in a team project aimed at reconciling the many considerations in designing a building, including aesthetic and technical resolution.
