For 11 years, the Nanosystems Initiative Munich (NIM) was inviting master students who were seeking a PhD position in nanoscience to join NIM groups for eight weeks in summer of compelling and demanding nanotechnology research.

About

On each of the projects in Munich, Garching, Großhadern and Augsburg one or two participants are matched with a graduate fellow acting as a research mentor.

As a participant you will collaborate with other international students to:

  • Work on fascinating and demanding topics in nanosciences
  • Operate state of the art scientific equipment
  • Sharpen your scientific and technical skills
  • Develop your presentation and scientific writing abilities

Scientific education is not the only intent of the program, since the students can also experience German culture and life-style. A supporting program will be organized with weekend trips to touristic destinations and other informal activities.

This programme may require students to demonstrate proficiency in English.

General Requirements

  • do their Master's Studies (PhD students are not eligible).

  • provide evidence of excellent academic records.

  • plan to pursue a PhD in the nanosciences.

  • provide proof of successfully completed TOEFL, IELTS...

  • be willing to perform full-time research, sometimes with late night and weekend work.

  • participate in the supporting program (i.e. weekend trips, seminars).
