The Preparation for BA course at the University of the Arts London (UAL)  is designed to prepare International Students applying for a UAL undergraduate course. 

Overview

Regular group discussions and tutorials will build on communication skills and will support and prepare students for study in further education in art and design.

Objectives of the Preparation for BA course at the University of the Arts London (UAL):

  • To build upon an applicants’ technical skills through developing their contextual understanding of their chosen degree

  • To analyse the critical factors and key ideas influencing contemporary art, design and communication

  • To focus on visual strategies and approaches to research to improve creative, imaginative visual thinking and capitalise on London as a learning resource

  • Introduce self-reflection and a critical analysis as an integral part of the creative learning experience

  • To build upon an applicants’ skills in communicating ideas, verbal and written

General requirements

  • A completed application form along with a digital portfolio of around 20 images of your work.  International students applying for the Preparation for BA course without an offer are advised to submit their portfolio at least a month before the start of the course.
  • A personal statement (maximum 50 words) outlining your educational qualifications and reasons for applying to this course 
  • An IELTS (or equivalent English language qualification) of level 5.0 or above with at least 4.5 in reading, writing, listening and speaking. Other certificates may be accepted.
