The course focuses on the relevancy of Venice relation to nature in the construction of a project for a lagoon city.  Both territorial and architectural physical materiality and metabolic systems of Venice are confronted simultaneously, to foster new design interpretations and possibilities for the programming and activation of sites in the city.

Professional Development

The course is composed of a comprehensive analysis on Venice urban system, its historical palimpsest, embedded ecologies, and contemporary architectural challenges - concepts introduced through sites explorations, specific lectures and design sessions grounded by the practicalities of actual site conditions. This would allow you to study and confront with the most challenging proposals and their rationalities, whilst re-thinking new interventions.

You come to Venice to get inspired and learn from the great architects of the Past and the Present. We will guide you through the iconic and not-so-famous Venetian locations. The classes take place in a historic Venetian palazzo, throughout the course you will be exposed to amazing architecture, art and design.
