Overview
During the Contemporary Art - Framework To Develop And Refine Your Ideas course of the European Cultural Academy it is probably the most unusual art education that you ever going to have. It makes you revise your place in the contemporary art paradigm, analyse your beliefs and get involved in projects that triple your level of ambition. It is a useful exercise for any creative who wants to grow, dream and do. As a result you will get a step-by-step plan to realize your dream project, collaborate with international artists and exhibit your idea in a group show in Venice. All without interrupting your career.
Why Join
Grow Your Artistic Ambition
Danielle Krysa, aka the Jealous Curator (ECA alumna and lecturer) once told us "When you come to Venice and see all these incredible art projects (and some of them are just gigantic), you get really inspired. It expands the notion of what you are capable of. And that's where it starts".
Come to the space that celebrates and nurtures your artistic ambition. Have a meaningful result-oriented experience and discover how big you can grow.
Show Your Project in Venice
Your final project will be a part of the ECA collective show in Venice. You will exhibit at an international show in a Venetian sculpture garden. The show is organized by our partner European Cultural Centre, the second largest foundation in Venice after the Venice Biennale.
Get Insider Experience
Venice museums and the biennale provide a stunning background for contemporary art. We are proud to organise insider's experiences that leave a mark on our participants. Visit world class galleries like Victoria Miro and have personal meetings with artists from unusual places like Kiribati. You will tour Venetians palaces when they are closed to public and visit the best shows in town.
Overcome the Challenges of Being a Creator
Art paths can be difficult sometimes. People say that it is not "real" job or that it is too elitist. Artists can experience imposter syndrome, creative blocks and worry about financial instability. Recent COVID-19 uncertainty is also a destabilising factor - creatively and practically. You address these issues during the course in carefully crafted workshops and it is a beautiful and emotional experience.
Collaborate
We developed an educational framework that allows participants to build long-lasting professional relationships leading to projects and friendships. You network will expand naturally - with an average of 11 nationalities per group and ECA alumni in 23 countries. We fly lecturers in from places like Oxford University, Tate Modern and ArkDes if we believe that they bring value to you.
