The National Louis University English Program is a rigorous, academic English course specifically designed for students who want to improve their English skills before starting a degree program such as hospitality management, culinary arts, or baking and pastry.

We offer 3 levels of English instruction: intermediate, high-intermediate, and advanced. Each quarter is 10 weeks, with classes meeting every day Monday–Friday, for 18–20 hours of class time per week. Classes feature a hands-on faculty and small class sizes, 6–12 students per class, and include free tutoring at our office of learning support. The National Louis University English Program also provides resources to prepare for English proficiency tests such as IELTS, TOEFL, and Pearson Test of English.

The cost of the program is $3,495 per quarter, which includes all tuition and fees, meals on campus, textbooks, train/bus pass, and student insurance. Student housing is also available in downtown Chicago.

English Language Requirements

    The TOEFL iBT ® measures your English-language abilities in an academic setting. The test has four sections (reading, listening, speaking, and writing), each with a score range of 0-30, for a total score range of 0-120.

    The IELTS – or the International English Language Test System – tests your English-language abilities (writing, listening, speaking, and reading) on a scale of 1.00–9.00.
