The Winter Cultural program of Columbia University is a two week English and cultural program for students in ALP levels 3-9.

Overview

Winter Institute Highlights

  • The goal of the Winter Cultural program of Columbia University is to practice and improve English while learning about New York City.
  • 15 hours of classroom instruction per week.
  • 12 hours of project-based field trips and cultural activities in New York City with course instructors (class outside the classroom)
  • Class time prepares students by reading, listening and discussing themes and topics relevant to the trip.
  • During the field trips, students will complete tasks to guide their visit and develop their English.
  • After each trip there will be additional activities, discussions, presentations and assignments.
  • Winter Institute is not an academic program. Students wishing to study academic English full-time should apply to ALP's Fall, Spring, or Summer sessions.
