Programme Structure

Students arrive on a Friday in July and have a weekend orientation before beginning their five-week program.

  • During the orientation they meet their American “buddy” – another summer student who serves as a friend and resource over the course of the program. Students attend classes every day Monday-Friday and have evenings and weekends free for study, workshops, social activities and excursions.
  • Optional workshops equip students to be successful applicants to graduate programs, especially in the United States. In these, participants tour graduate and professional schools on campus, meet with admissions officers and faculty members, and learn how to interview and write effective applications.
  • Social activities include dinners, a baseball game, visits to museums and amusement parks, cooking lessons, and a trip to an organic farm. Students live on campus in comfortable university residence halls and have free access to public transportation.
  • They can eat in campus and neighborhood restaurants using the campus meal card, provided as part of the program fee. Meals can also be cooked in the residence hall kitchens.
