Overview

This Intensive English course at Regent's University London combines General English in the mornings with English Skills in the afternoons. It is for you if you:

  • Are looking for a full-time, intensive (21 hours per week) course
  • Want to improve your reading, writing, listening and speaking skills in a classroom setting
  • Are interested in joining extra-curricular activities provided by Regent’s*
  • Want to take advantage of the University’s facilities – library, study areas, café

This course is available at four levels as defined by the CEFR – the Common European Framework for Reference:

  • B1 (intermediate)
  • B2 (upper-intermediate)
  • C1 (advanced)

Your level will be tested at the start of the course.

Practical learning

  • Classes are practical, fun and engaging with a focus on task-based activities that promote critical thinking, problem-solving and an understanding of British culture.
  • You’ll do much more than complete worksheets: you’ll practise your presentation skills, learn to write professional and personal emails and talk to classmates about topics relevant to you.
  • Outside the classroom, our weekly Conversation Club offers the chance to improve your fluency   and boost your confidence by mixing with other students.
  • Plus, informal class trips take you on walking tours to London’s top sights, like the River Thames, where you’ll test your language skills through mini challenges as you explore the city.

Personal support

  • You’ll learn in a supportive, personalised environment where staff and students get to know each other by name.
  • All students take a placement test on their first day, followed by regular progress tests. Staff will give continuous feedback and regular one-to-one tutorials are available.
