Effective Written Communication

Overview

Effective Written Communication from University of Winnipeg combines interactive, hands-on classroom sessions with online content. You will learn key strategies for writing effective business correspondence and for recognizing the most appropriate delivery channel, whether it be email, internal memo, letter or report.  

Students at Effective Written Communication from University of Winnipeg will: 

• Use the three phases of The Writing Process (planning, writing and revising) when developing written documents;

• Identify and address the needs of specific audiences;

• Write clear and concise messages using plain language, correct grammar and punctuation;

• Format documents to enhance readability and present a professional message;

• Recognize how business communication in North America compares and contrasts with business communication in other parts of the world.
