Your tutor, Rosie Grose, will introduce you to a range of basic materials used in the make-up effects industry. Through sculpting and mould-making procedures, you will learn to design, create and apply both casualty and fantasy effects make-up. 

In this immersive hands-on 10-week course you’ll explore the fascinating world of prosthetics and special make-up effects.

Programme Overview

You will be given the opportunity to understand and practice additional techniques such as hair punching and gelatine burns. The importance of professional practice with respect to set up and break down, as well as safe working procedures, will be established. Upon completion of this Special Effects Make-Up - An Introduction course from Arts University Bournemouth, you will have acquired an appreciation of the fundamental skills needed in the creation of make-up special effects.

Aim

To introduce everyone to, and provide a simple understanding of, the basic materials and processes involved in the creation of particular make-up effects.
