Overview
Through the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) Material Science and Engineering program you will be immersed in the day-to-day working of a real-world project within the research lab/group under the guidance of KAUST faculty mentors and their staff for the duration of their internship.
You’ll have access and training in all of our facilities and laboratories. The facilities themselves are specifically designed for post-graduate projects and professional research, with state-of-the-art equipment and the latest technologies. They are a place to work together and solve the world’s leading problems, while learning how to use the tools you’ll need for the rest of your career.
We believe that great ideas flow when we’re relaxed, so KAUST offers a balanced lifestyle between studying and conducting research. Through this internship you will have opportunities to pursue your personal hobbies, join student clubs, participate in sports and recreational programs, or volunteer your skills to support a local project.
Eligibility
The program is open to driven students with insatiable curiosity and strong academic background that meet the below criteria:
- 3rd or 4th year Bachelors or Masters students
- Strong verbal & written English skills (no test scores required)

Programme Structure
Projects range from 12 to 24 weeks and start all year round making it easier for you to fit them into your current academic schedule.
You will work day-to-day within the lab/group on your project and have access to training in specialized equipment.
Interns will also have the opportunity to join social and cultural activities through the program, take part in regular community events, or pursue their hobbies in our student groups.

The VSRP programme seeks students with excellent academic performance as indicated by GPA 3.5/4 or 14/20 (ECTS B).
