About

The International School for Government, King's College London, Hertie School in Berlin and the LUISS School of Government in Rome, are offering this European CAPITALS programme - An Executive Training Course in European Public Policy and Management.

Overview

About the course

Initiated and supported by leading personalities of administration and academia, this programme offers a deep understanding of policy and management processes in each capital.

Comprising of three 3- to 4-day face to face modules in Rome, Berlin and London, the European CAPITALS programme - An Executive Training Course in European Public Policy and Management will contribute to building a network among participants heading for future leadership positions.

It is designed to help them learn from other countries’ policy and management experience and to address the main challenges they are facing.

The programme King's College London contributes to building a pan-European network of future leaders by:

  • Sharing the best public management practices and providing evidence-based policy reforms from the participating countries
  • Focusing on current policy issues and the emerging challenges all public and private organisations face
  • Building on participants' skills to turn the programme into a cross-country management and policy lab

Programme Structure

At the end of the course, participants will have:
  • A good understanding of what drives reform within the UK Public Sector, including central government, the devolved and sub-national government.
  • Explored the challenges and impediments to reform
  • Discuss the merits and limitations of national approaches within the UK’s European and global context
  • To explore the concept of the state in the UK context and contrast with other perspectives
  • To place public service reform into the context of ‘wicked issues’ such as climate change.
