Overview
Course objectives
Knowledge and understanding
After completing the Distributed artificial intelligence and multi-agent systems course offered by Örebro University, the student should be able to:
- explain the principles underlying multiagent systems
- discuss different methods and architecture for the construction of a single agent part of a multi-agent system, and of complete multi-agent systems, and
- report different forms of distributed decision-making and their characteristics.
Skill and ability
After completing the course, the student must be able to:
- develop and discuss solution concepts for a complex distributed problem using techniques used in multi-agent systems.
Evaluation ability and approach
After completing the course, the student should be able to:
- discuss the computational and representational trade-offs that need to be made for various applications of multi-agent systems.
Programme Structure
The program focuses on:
- Introduction to multi-agent systems, concepts and appropriate areas of use,
- Architecture for agent and multi-agent systems,
- Approach to distributed problem solving regarding task assignment and result sharing,
- Planning and coordination of multiple agents,
- Distributed decision making, and
