Overview
What you will study
The Numerical Modelling and Physical Model Testing for Floating Offshore Platforms course offered by University Teknologi PETRONAS is designed in such a way that at the end of the lectures, the participants will have a broad understanding on the hydrodynamic behaviour of floating offshore structures subjected to various environmental loading through numerical and physical modelling. The content includes evaluation of the environmental loading (1st and 2nd order) acting on offshore platforms, mooring line analysis for floaters and theories used for physical modelling at wave basins.
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Comprehend the analysis methods for floating offshore platforms and design in compliance with international practice/codes
- Design offshore platforms’ physical models using Froud scaling law and understand the various techniques used for physical model testing in wave basins.
