Overview
Higher Education in Emergencies - Geneva Summer Schools from University of Geneva lecturers will examine the legal instruments adopted by UNESCO and other international organizations, such as the ‘Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict’, the ‘Convention on the Means of Prohibiting and Preventing the Illicit Import, Export and Transfer of Ownership of Cultural Property’, and the ‘Convention concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage’.
Students at Higher Education in Emergencies - Geneva Summer Schools from University of Geneva will develop awareness and general understanding of the main substantive themes of international cultural heritage law, namely:
- the trade in cultural objects;
- the restitution of stolen or looted artworks;
- the protection of cultural property in the event of armed conflict.

- Protection of Cultural Heritage: Perspectives of the ICC Prosecutor
- The implementation of the 1970 UNESCO Convention in the United States
- The settlement of cultural heritage disputes
- Cultural heritage law and intellectual property law
