Key facts
To start, you will learn how to identify different types of sewing machines both industrial and domestic and have an understanding of what each type of machine is used for.
You will understand the threading sequence and bobbin winding methods for each machine. You will then progress to learning a range of stitch techniques.
Features
By the end of the five days of the Leather Sewing Skills course from London College of Fashion, you will have made a pack of stitch samples and be confident in using a range of sewing machines. You will also create a fabric bag to keep all your samples in.

- Threading of a cylinder arm machine, a post machine and a flatbed machine
- Know the difference, benefits and limitations of all of the above
- Look at and use different feet and their uses
- Understand thread types and needle sizes
- Be able to trouble shoot and correct common machine faults
- Understand machine maintenance and ways to avoid major faults occurring
