Overview

Comprehensive training materials have been developed by EIT to support these courses. The materials have been created to meet the requirements of the UET12 National Training Package developed by EE-Oz Training Standards for the National Electricity Supply Industry.

This ESI - Power Systems from Engineering Institute of Technology uses a blended learning format, comprising live, online presentations combined with on-the-job training at your own workplace as required by the national training standards. 

The qualifications are nationally recognized within the Australian Qualifications Framework and EIT (as a registered training organization) has the qualification in its “scope” for delivery nationally.

Career

The 3 elective streams of each course allow students to specialize and develop careers in one of the following challenging and exciting fields:

  • Electrical protection and testing – network protection systems, control systems, power communication equipment
  • Electrical engineering design – overhead, underground, substations and public lighting systems
  • Power system operations – LV and HV distribution systems, transmission systems, sub-transmission networks

      You are expected to spend approximately 10-15 hours per week. This includes attending weekly webinars that run for about 90 minutes to facilitate class discussion and allow you to ask questions. This program is delivered online on a part-time basis and has been designed to fit around full-time work.

Programme Structure

Courses include:

  • Use software for engineering applications
  • Compile and produce an energy sector detailed report
  • Provide engineering solutions for problems in complex multiple path circuits problems
  • Provide solutions to basic engineering computational problems
  • Provide engineering solutions to problems in complex polyphase power circuits
  • Implement and monitor the power systems organisational OHS policies, procedures and programs
