Overview
Within this General English (Advanced) course from the Academies Australasia students will have the opportunity to practise what is taught through the use of task-based learning activities. The focus for course content is provided by weekly themes and topics. These provide a framework around which coursework – particularly vocabulary building and the development of the macroskills of speaking, listening, reading and writing – is structured.

Programme Structure
Delivery and assessment
- A placement test is usually conducted on the first day. Formal assessment of student achievement is conducted every fortnight of the programme.
- Each of the macroskills is assessed separately and students are assessed on their range and control of the language in appropriate contexts.
- The types of assessments include multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank questions, writing of various types of texts, short answer questions and paired interviews among others.
- Students receive detailed feedback on their progress on a fortnightly basis. Our assessment system enables us to give students targeted remedial help in their identified weaknesses.
