Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf is one of the younger higher education institutions in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia – founded in 1965. Since 1988 our university has carried the name of one of the city’s finest sons. Today around 35,000 students study at a modern campus under conditions ideally suited to academic life.
HHU enables you to choose from more than 50 different undergraduate and graduate study programmes at five faculties. Being an international university HHU is the perfect place to start your career.
Innovative minds and dedicated researchers enjoy optimal working conditions, thereby contributing greatly to the success of our four key research areas life sciences, natural sciences, humanities, and law and economics.
To finish your studies successfully central facilities such as the Student Service Centre, the University Languages Centre, or the University and State Library of HHU provide you with the necessary support.
Students and researchers enjoy living in the culturally rich and economically strong city of Düsseldorf. HHU invites you to engage in sports and clubs and to enjoy yourself on its green campus close to the city centre.
Student self-administrationThose students enrolled at the university comprise the “student body” in terms of the Higher Education Acts. They manage their affairs themselves and have access to all kinds of media. The student associations at university contribute towards the formation of opinions on political issues. These associations include the student parliament, the students’ union (or AStA) and the student representatives (Fachschaften).
