History
- Nankai University was founded in 1919 by the famous patriotic educators Yan Fansun (1860-1929) and Zhang Boling (1876-1951).
- When Nankai University was established, there were three subjects: liberal arts, science, and commerce. Enrolling 96 students, Zhou Enlai was the first student of liberal arts. In 1921, the Division of Minerals was added (closed in 1926).
