Education

While the University of Stirling is a very popular choice, studying here gives you the option to study at a number of other leading Scottish universities. If Stirling doesn’t provide the subject you’re dreaming of studying, you can apply to progress to another university that does! Start with an English language course, an International Foundation or a Graduate Diploma at INTO University of Stirling, then progress to Stirling to study anything from Accounting and Finance, Business Studies and Economics, to Film and Media, Human Resource Management and Sports Studies. Alternatively, start with a pathway at INTO Stirling and then progress to another university to study a specialist subject such as Engineering.

Research

The University of Stirling makes the difference to Scotland, the UK and the rest of the world with their research. With three main themes of study – ‘Cultures, Communities and Society’, ‘Global Security and Resilience’ and ‘Living Well’ – the University is currently conducting research into fighting harmful effects of tobacco, leading on research in sustainable aquaculture, and looking at ways to improve lives of those affected by dementia.

Career

With industry links to local, national and global businesses, the University not only gives you a strong theoretical education in your chosen subject, but also has a big practical focus. For example, students taking a Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) degree have the opportunity to apply for a placement at Stirling’s partner universities in Hungary or Germany. While in Stirling, you can attend a ‘My career in TESOL’ workshop to help you figure out what you want to do next and help you to improve your personal development. Other subjects may also give you the chance to take work placements or develop your understanding of the industry in internship opportunities.
