Founded in Shanghai in October 1951, East China Normal University (ECNU) is one of the most prestigious universities in China sponsored by the national top university construction programs “Project 211” and “Project 985”. In 2017, ECNU was chosen as one of the 36 Class A universities on the list of Double First Class University Plan released by the central government of China.
As one of the most prestigious key universities in China, East China Normal University (ECNU) has attached great importance to research in both basic and applied sciences since its early stages. There are four international student dorms on Zhongshan Rd. Campus: International Exchange Service Center, No.1 International Student Residence Hall, No.2 International Student Residence Hall, and No.12 Student Residence Hall.
Students who live in the International Exchange Service Center must sign a “Rental-Least Agreement” and pay a deposit money of RMB1000 (full scholarship students pay a deposit money of RMB500). Students should pay the accommodation fee of a whole semester for checking in and won’t get refund if they check out before semester ends. Students may apply for an extension and pay the accommodation fee beforehand.

With over 110 official student associations integrating the academic, extracurricular, and curricular spheres of students' life, ECNU students are active on and outside of campus. Having the ability to engage in a wide variety of interests and to enrich the social, cultural and educational experience is highly valued at ECNU.
