University of South Australia

History

The University of South Australia (UniSA) was established in 1991 but our foundations date back to the latter half of the 19th century.

The forerunners of today’s UniSA were the South Australian School of Art, founded in 1856, the first of several Teacher Training Colleges formed in 1876, and the School of Mines and Industries which was established in 1889.

Education

We educate and prepare global learners from all backgrounds, instilling professional skills and knowledge and the capacity and drive for life-long learning.

We undertake research that is inspired by global challenges and opportunities, delivers economic and social benefits and which informs our teaching.

Research

At UniSA, our researchers are thought leaders and change makers. We have big ideas and we ask big questions. We translate our discoveries into solutions that benefit our economy and society. Our approach to research has always been strongly aligned with industry, and we engage in partnerships with business, industry and community, who help to shape the questions we ask. We have built a culture of collaboration that brings our best minds together to solve problems in a multidisciplinary environment. Through our research partnerships, we are developing future industries, creating change and making the world a better place.

Career

Students decide to embark on university studies for many different reasons. For some it might be to forge the pathway to a new career and for others to take the next step in a new direction or seek a promotion. When you’re at university, you can sometimes forget about your career goals particularly as you get tied up with your studies and assignments. Career Development Planning is one of the most important aspects of university life, and the Career Services team is here to support you with achieving your career goals. We offer an extensive range of services, resources and tools to help you plan your career, get yourself ready for the workplace and most importantly find a job in your chosen field.
