University of Kent – Rome School of Classical and Renaissance Studies

Kent’s Rome School of Classical and Renaissance Studies is a specialist postgraduate centre. Study one of our Master's degrees, all taught in English,  in ancient history, art history, Roman history and archaeology, spending your spring term in Rome studying subjects that capitalise on the city's heritage and culture

History

As the UK's European university, Kent has offered postgraduate study at its European Centres for over 20 years.  The Rome School of Classical and Renaissance Studies opened in 2013 and builds on Kent's experience in offering unique dual-location Master's degrees.

Education

Students begin their one-year MA in the world heritage city of Canterbury and relocate in the spring term to The American University of Rome, where the Kent programmes are hosted at their lovely campus atop the Janiculum Hill.

The programmes are taught entirely in English, with the possibility to develop language skills in Latin, Greek, and Italian during both the autumn term in Canterbury, and the spring term in Rome.

Visits to sites in Rome are included in all core modules and assessments reflect the additional resources available to Kent students in Rome.

Career

Kent has an excellent postgraduate employability record: 97% of Kent's 2017 postgraduates  had found a job, or were going on to further studies. Some of our Rome alumni choose to continue their studies at doctoral level, while others have gone on to work in museums, galleries, higher education institutions, charities and the civil service.

Whatever your career goal you will graduate with an impressive portfolio of skills, specialist knowledge and practical experience to help you succeed in a competitive job market.

By living and studying overseas you have shown potential employers that you are independently minded, ambitious and confident, all attributes graduate employers look for.
