History
Nanjing University of Information Science & Technology (NUIST), founded in 1960 and renamed from Nanjing Institute of Meteorology in 2004, was designated in 1978 as one of the key institutions of higher learning in China

After hard working of over half a century, our university has become a comprehensive university consisting disciplines of Science, Engineering, Management, Literature, Economics, Law and Agriculture with Atmospheric science as its core and Information Science and Technology and Environment Science and engineering as its foci.

Library services
The Library's collection is abundant and covers wide subjects. The collection of Atmospheric Science is one of the most complete libraries of the Academic Library in China.
Currently, the total printed collection amounts to more than 1.47 million volumes, annual subscription to the printed Chinese and foreign periodicals amounts to 1,786 kinds
Medical services
The school hospital, situated at the north side of the Central Campus, carries out daily diagnosis and treatment and provides prescription drugs for patients

Located on the north of Yangtse River and in the heart of the Industrial Zone of Nanjing High Technology,Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology is recognized as one of the well-known leading research and teaching institutions.
Sports facilities
Currently, there are 2 gymnasiums situated respectively beside the ground track fields on the central campus and the main ground track field. It possesses a number of equipments for body building like barbell, dumbbell and joint equipments.
Student clubs
Student Union of Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology is a self-governing mass organization led by the CPC Committee and directed by the Youth League Committee of Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology, a bridge that associates Party and administrative leaders with all students of our university, and an institutional member of All China Students' Federation and the Students' Federation of Jiangsu Province.
