The history of KIT began over 100 years ago with two forerunner institutions; one specializing in engineering, design and the applied arts and another in sericulture, spinning and weaving.

Kyoto Institute of Technology offers housing at its International House (Marikoji Kaikan). International House capacity is limited. Applications for accommodation are accepted twice a year, in January and July. For further details, please contact International Affairs.
Library services
Unlike typical public libraries, the KIT university library is primarily meant to support specific study and research being conducted on campus. The library maintains a wide array of materials and services with the objective of assisting researchers and students in their academic work
