ENSTA Paris

History

ENSTA Paris was originaly the brainchild of Henry-Louis Duhamel du Monceau, inspector general of the Navy. He had identified the need to give the Navy's master carpenters a theoretical education, particularly in mathematics and physics, which were making quick progress, so that they would have a clearer understanding of their trade.

In this view, the institute provides a high-level scientific and technological education, which is constantly updated to keep pace with changes in the leading edge technologies, and supplemented by languages, humanities, and the skills needed in business life such as law, communication, economics, accounting and management.
