The University of Santo Tomas, in pursuit of truth, guided by reason and illumined by faith, dedicates herself to the generation, advancement and transmission of knowledge to form competent and compassionate professionals committed to the service of the Church, the nation, and the global community.

History

The University of Santo Tomas, the Pontifical, Royal, and Catholic University of the Philippines, is a Dominican institution of learning founded in 1611, under the patronage of St. Thomas Aquinas.

Education

While the University of Santo Tomas holds the distinction of being Asia’s oldest existing university, its age is coupled with its preeminence in Philippine education. Not only does it boast of several firsts in the different realms of education, it also has administrators and faculty members who are holding leadership positions in the Philippines’ policy-making bodies (e.g. Commission on Higher Education) and professional organizations, helping influence policies for the betterment of the society in general.

Library services

The UST Miguel de Benavides Libraryis housed in a six-storey building along Alberto Drive of the UST campus facing Dapitan Street. It has sixteen sections and five branch libraries which are located in different buildings inside the university. 

Medical services

The UST Health Service delivers the Thomasian Health Care System which involves the efficient and effective delivery of primary, emergency and specialty health care and the implementation of programs and projects for promotive and preventive medicine to all the members of the Thomasian Community.

Campus life

Not everything on campus, however, is solely about the Thomasians’ academic development because the University’s goal is to provide them with holistic formation. Students are also immersed in community development activities that take place in campus, such as the annual Pistang Tomas Community Trade Fair usually held at the Quadricentennial Square in December.
