From our cornerstone mercy mission to the classic ideals of our liberal arts approach, tradition matters at Salve Regina. It’s woven throughout our 80-acre campus, embedded in our historic buildings and infused in the culture of Newport, Rhode Island.

History

Tradition at Salve Regina means we remember where we began. Since our founding by the Sisters of Mercy in 1934, we have grown to a community of more than 2,700 undergraduate and graduate students who proudly carry forward our mission in their personal and professional lives.

Salve Regina is a vibrant learning community where intellectual curiosity and ethical responsibility converge. Professional and liberal arts-based programs offer limitless opportunities for academic challenge and growth. Small classes, dedicated faculty members and rigorous courses cultivate the knowledge and critical thinking skills required for men and women to succeed.

Student services

The Office of Student Affairs strives to educate students in all aspects of human living outside the formal academic environment. It supports the mission of the University by fostering personal and social growth, civic responsibility and the development of life skills within the context of Catholic values.

Housing services

From traditional residence halls to architecturally significant buildings, students at Salve Regina have the opportunity to live in a variety of unique housing options situated throughout our historic campus. Ocean views, fireplaces and grand staircases are common features of the University's residential landscape.

Students residing on campus can easily access downtown Newport on foot or via public transportation. Steeped in history, diversity and religious tolerance, today's Newport is a tourist mecca, with shops, restaurants, museums, galleries and sporting events permeating this "City by the Sea."

Library services

The McKillop Library plays a vital role in the teaching and learning mission of Salve Regina University. As a dynamic partner in the educational experience of the University, the McKillop Library strives to constantly evolve to meet the changing needs of our diverse community of learners, while advancing the institution’s mission, values, and vision. 

ICT services

The Office of Information Technology consists of various departments, including Application Services, Network Services, Student Technology Services, Technical Services and User Support Services.

Medical services

Health Services offers acute care for illnesses and minor accidents, chronic care for individuals with conditions that require monitoring, immunizations, laboratory testing, pharmacy delivery, specialist referrals, women's health and health education. Services are provided by a team of nurse practitioners and physicians from NHCC Medical Associates, which is a Lifespan physician group.

Campus life

Sports facilities

The Rodgers Recreation Center houses the University's athletic and recreational facilities, including the gymnasium, fitness center, aerobics studio, training rooms and a Hall of Fame area. Conference rooms, offices and locker rooms are located throughout the facility.

Student clubs

Our goal is to enhance the educational experience by offering activities that challenge, enlighten and entertain. The office plans a wide range of programs and special events, provides support for recognized student organizations, promotes student involvement in co-curricular activities and seeks opportunities to collaborate with other offices and departments across campus.
