HTMi, Hotel and Tourism Management Institute Switzerland is a leading hotel management Institute in the world. 45 nationalities study HTMi courses across the globe to our high education and training standards, based on our mission: “Come as a Student, Become a Manager”. HTMi Switzerland is the global centre of excellence for HTMi, situated in the beautiful UNESCO biosphere, Kanton Luzern. 

History

CEO, Mr Ian Larmour, established HTMi in 1999 in Switzerland’s UNESCO Biosphere in Sörenberg, Kanton Luzern. It has since expanded to be a global education group with campuses in Singapore, Australia, Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and a global network of partnerships. For over 20 years, HTMi has achieved, and continues to improve its world level.

Education

The institute provides undergraduate and postgraduate courses in hotel, events, culinary and hospitality management. In addition to HTMi Switzerland’s own diplomas and degrees, students can finish UK Degrees at our Swiss campus awarded by top ranked UK universities: University of Ulster and Edinburgh Napier University, UK. 

HTMI consistently achieves very high student results with the current BSc results level at its highest ever. Our courses have Swiss, UK and international accreditation. A key aspect of all courses is Swiss intensive holistic learning style which blends training, education and paid internships in all courses.

Research

HTMi is a global leader in student research. The institute has its own International Hospitality Research Centre to support student research at all levels. Linked are two student online journals to showcase our students research work, and students can present twice per year at our conferences held at HTMi. 

Renowned international researchers attend HTMi research conferences to present their research expertise and to judge student research presentations. The Centre acknowledges the outstanding research of students by publishing two student journals quarterly. Our ultimate goal is to transform each student to become an independent learner, with strong critical analysis and research skills.

Career

Internships are proven to be a great way to gain relevant knowledge, skills, and experiences while establishing important connections in the Hospitality field. This is the reason why every HTMi student should do at least one and often two or three 6-1month internships in Switzerland or Internationally after their on-campus semester. 

The HTMi Centre for Career Management supports all students in choosing the right internship and orienting them in their continuous personal and career development. It connects with major hotel companies and places students, alumni and executives around the world. 

Student services

To support student’s life, education and training students have access to the following centres for excellence:  

  • Student Services Centre, for all kinds of administration and living support.  
  • The School of International Hotel and Tourism Management to fully support student’s education success. 
  • International Hospitality Research Centre Switzerland to support students research elements within courses, publication and conference planning. 
  • The Centre for Events Management which supports students to organize over 100 campus events per year. 

Housing services

All rooms at HTMi Switzerland Hotel campus have beautiful views and many have balconies with Alpine views. All rooms have televisions, dial-in telephones, high speed internet WIFI, central heating and all students have a safe, wardrobe, shelves, and study desk.

Rooms are of different types, such as single room, double room and triple room. They are modern boutique hotel style bedrooms separated between two campus buildings, Panorama and Mariental, providing a safe and comfortable environment.

Library services

HTMi distributes e-course books to students for their learning and academic support. Apart from the course books, the HTMi library resources also contain more than 3000 physical books based on hospitality and tourism. Students have access to more than 500 e-books and e-journals with 1000s of relevant articles, and for purposes of advancing their research papers.

ICT services

Each student receives an iPad upon arrival with an access to HTMi Mobile Application Suite, learning platform, class timetables and e-books. HTMi established the first Swiss hotel school research and development centre as a key aspect of our academic life integration through Apple technology. HTMi is a leader in applying the Apple technology for hospitality operations and education.

Medical services

The facilities for healthcare are both on and off campus. HTMi issues a compulsory health insurance and provides all the assistance when it comes to medical assistance and emergencies, such as First aid, or needed transportation to medical centres nearby. For small medicine support we have on campus support through the Student Services Centre, which also includes scheduling medical appointments.

Campus life

HTMi Switzerland campus location is in the most beautiful UNESCO biosphere in Switzerland, which is a skiing destination in winter and a beautiful relaxation destination throughout the year. To support this and HTMi there are a full range of supermarket, shops, bank, post office, and various restaurants cafes and bars. Connection to the nearest towns and Luzern city is efficient and fast with trains and buses.

Sports facilities

HTMi, Hotel and Tourism Management Institute Switzerland offers a great variety of indoor and outdoor sports facilities. These facilities include gym and indoor swimming pool situated on campus, which are also accompanied by sauna in the wellness centre. What is more, an outdoor tennis and football court are right next to the campus, as well as indoor basketball and volleyball courts. 

During the summer season, students get a chance to experience many diverse hiking trails of the beautiful UNESCO biosphere surrounding the campus, while during the winter season, ski slopes for skiers, snowboarders and sledgers are only walking distance away. 

Student clubs

Since the HTMi Centre for Events Management plays a big role in student’s academic and practical education, many student activities, clubs and events are formed. Students can take part in is the SRC Student Representative Committee, by taking initiatives in making decisions that improve everyday lifestyle of HTMi students. It is also important that HTMi encourages students with special talents in music and other aspects of entertainment to perform during various events that take place on HTMi’s Swiss campus. The wide range of campus events during each semester, also students to get involve in teamwork in many different environments appropriate to hospitality education and training.

HTMi is accredited as a Higher Education Institution by EDUQUA, the Swiss education quality organization, officially recognized by the Swiss Government and the Swiss Private Schools Register as providing high quality educational services. HTMi has institutional accreditation from British Accreditation Council (BAC), a full member of the European Association for Quality Assurance (ENQA) and the three-year Bachelor BSc (Hons.) Degree is accredited at all levels by the largest international organization for the hospitality industry, the Institute of Hospitality.
