In 1979 Jean Jacques Laffont creates GREMAQ (research laboratory in mathematical economics), which will represent the foundation for the Toulouse School of Economics that was established in 2006.
While the core focus is economics, our courses taught by internationally renowned faculty are multidisciplinary and concentrate on the role that data and quantitative techniques play in decision-making in firms, institutions or states. Mathematical modelling helps develop rigorous reasoning in complex situations and statistical and quantitative methods help to assess the impact of strategy changes and policy reforms.
Laboratory TSE-R has always fostered an academic environment that nurtures a diverse range of international talent and expertise. We pride ourselves on attracting the best and the brightest to Toulouse from leading US and European institutions.
While TSE’s unique atmosphere is hard to define, there is a palpable sense of a “TSE- style economics”. Based on a broad range of academic interests and a deep sense of curiosity, open mindedness and an engrained culture of collaborative work, our approach is coupled with an appetite for tackling real-world problems and generating deployable policy solutions.
Preparing our students for their future careers and strengthening our relationships with business and policy communities is of primary importance to TSE.
Offering guidance and support is also fundamental in career development to help students learn, grow and build skills in a challenging job market.
The TSE careers team offers a wide range of services to both students and employers.
The Toulouse School of Economics provides its students access to numerous libraries.
The TSE campus provides:
Toulouse enjoys a privileged geographical location with its proximity to the Mediterranean Sea, the Atlantic Ocean and the Pyrenees. The school is based in the former Tobacco Factory between the Garonne and the Canal de Brienne, near the city’s historical center (a few minutes’ walk from the Place du Capitole).
Students of TSE will be able to practice a variety of sports in the gymnasiums existing in the campus.
The association "Bureau des élèves" (BDE) aims at fostering integration and inter-student relations at TSE. The association organizes parties, weekend breaks or longer trips. TSE students can also share ideas with the association's board...Don't hesitate to make suggestions!
