History
Alireza Afzalipour, founder of Kerman University, was born on March 26, 1909, in Tehran, to a family, all members of which were philosophers and scholars. The most significant result of decades of unceasing endeavor of this diligent, determined, and philanthropist man, is the foundation of Kerman University, which will be described in his own words.
Education
Nurturing talents through instruction and scientific research, and promotion of medical and paramedical sciences aiming at the provision of the country’s required man power in the pertinent areas; creating research facilities in an attempt to identify unexplored potential fields to increase scientific capability in the issues of health and medicine; developing and improving medical facilities across the province and the society, through medical organizations and institutes and the affiliated health centers.

It also asks university representatives on the performance of universities, and evaluates university resources, teacher salaries, graduation rates, student academic achievements and satisfaction. After calculating and comparing these criteria, U.S. News ranks the top international universities accordingly.
Housing services
There are two types of accommodation offered:
- Type A (Hotels): Single Room with Breakfast Only ($8/night); Double Room with Breakfast Only ($15/night)
- Type B (University Dorms): At least Quadra-Bed Rooms with 3 Meals a Day ($100/month)
Library services
Central Library and Documentation Center of Kerman University of Medical Sciences has a comprehensive collection of materials in the medical sciences, including 20851 books in Persian, 8757 Latin books, 7074 version of the thesis, 3918 English audiovisual sources, 441 Persian audiovisual sources as well as connecting to databases, and has 50 computers, 8 black laser printers and 3 scanners.

Sports facilities
KMU offers sports and entertainment facilities both inside the campus and in dormitories. Multi-purpose sports halls are provided for organizing exercise programs in several sports fields including football, futsal, volleyball, basketball, table tennis, chess, badminton, taekwondo, wrestling, bodybuilding, track and field, darts and karate. A well-equipped swimming pool including a sauna and Jacuzzi is also provided for students within the campus.
