History
Nippon Medical School is Japan’s oldest private medical school, its precursor, Saisei-Gakusha, having been established in 1876.
Education
Nippon Medical School includes departments within the fields of Surgical Medicine, Internal Medicine, Aging Science, Social Medicine, Pathology and Physiology.
Research
The medical examination center, established in 2006, provides researchers with the most advanced clinical imaging equipment, such as PET-CTs and MRIs. By using these leading-edge medical systems, researchers mainly in the field of nuclear medicine and psychiatric medicine research on detecting early-stage cancer and Alzheimer’s disease. The facility also utilizes PET (whole body PET, brain PET, and head MRI) for medical checkups, such as early cancer screening.

Library services
The school library is located adjacent to the university hospital. It is a facility of two floors below ground and three floors above ground. It contains more than 60,000 books and 150,000 bound volumes of periodicals. It subscribes to more than 600 titles of print journals and more than 8,000 titles of electronic journals.
Campus life
There are two campuses at Nippon Medical School, the Sendagi Campus at Sendagi area in Special wards of Tokyo, and the Musashisakai Campus at Musashisakai area in Western Tokyo. At these campuses, students can take advantage of interesting varieties of on-campus lectures, forums, and seminars offered by renowned scholars and researchers.
