History
The University of Hyderabad (UoH) was born in 1974 in 'The Golden Threshold' (GTI in the heart of the city, which was bequeathed to the university by Sarojini Naidu's family. Built in an Indo-European style of architecture, with huge Islamic-style arches, and a colonial-style colonnaded verandah, the Golden Threshold housed the university until it moved into its sprawling SOO acres campus.
Education
The Institution of Eminence status, accorded to the university in September 2019, is a recognition of UoH’s standing, ability and potential to move into the league of the world’s best institutions
Research
Research and Innovation has been the major thrust of the University since its inception. The University encourages all its faculty members and research scholars to participate in the core areas of research in their respective fields. The interdisciplinary approach and quality in teaching and research are well appreciated.

Housing services
The University has 23 hostels that accommodate over 5000 male and female students. Distributed across the campus, the hostels are nestled in lush greenery and on a pollution-free campus. The hostels are geographically located in both North and South campuses for the students to be nearer to their departments of study/research.
Library services
IGM Library is one of the important central facilities of the University catering to the information needs of faculty, research scholars and students in Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, Management, Sciences and Engineering.
Sports facilities
University of Hyderabad has developed excellent sports, games and yoga facilities for the university community to participate in various games and sports and fitness activities of their choice and keep themselves fit and healthy.
The University opted for a rigorous evaluation by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) of the University Grants Commission.
