KIIT University

History

KIIT was established in 1992 as a training centre with only two staff and 12 students. However, it took shape as an institution only in 1997, when degree engineering programme commenced. KIIT owes its existence to the vision of its founder Prof. Achyuta Samanta who, with no land, limited finances and little knowledge of higher education created an institution for the benefit of the society.

Research

KIIT is committed to high-quality research and provides outstanding facilities and a supportive environment for our academics and students. KIIT’s research portfolio extends across many different areas including, but not limited to, biotechnology, medicine; rural management; physical activity and nutrition; education; and social and mental health.

Career

KIIT actively promotes entrepreneurship among its students and youths at large. An Entrepreneurship Cell has been set up to provide guidance and resources to the students with interest and aptitude. As a result, KIIT students have good track record of entrepreneurial success. Similarly, KIIT Technology Business Incubator (TBI) offers incubation facilities for new ideas through various stages of entrepreneurial development. About 35 enterprises have successfully graduated from KIIT-TBI, while many others are in the process. KIIT-TBI is supported by DST and various other bodies of Govt. of India.

Student services

KIIT International Relations Office has dedicated staff committed to the needs of international students. They serve as the first point of contact if international students have any questions or problems, including help with student visa matters. By advising personally or referring to specialist services, International office is there to contribute to success of International Students at KIIT and beyond. The goal of KIIT Global is to enhance internationalisation at KIIT. It is the central contact point for international students and researchers – before, during and after their study at KIIT.

Housing services

Life at KIIT is more than just lectures and study sessions. Students get a plenty of excuses to take a well-earned break from books. Our packed calendar of events and activities means a new friend is never far away. At KIIT, students have a meaningful learning experience while enjoying all that university life has to offer. University is important, but it should also be a time to make friends and have great experiences outside the classroom. That’s why – along with libraries, lecture theaters and Wi-Fi hotspots – all of our campuses offer places to socialise, get a coffee and hang out during leisure.

Library services

The Central Library functions as the main learning resource centre of the University. Central library plays an integral role in supporting the academic programmes of the university. It identifies, evaluates, procures, processes and then makes these learning resources available to faculty, students and research scholars for their teaching, learning and research assignments.

ICT services

ICT services supports the University and all group of institutes in achieving their mission. A dedicated ICT CELL has been set up to provide a wide range of IT services to facilitate the works of staffs, students and faculties .It has the expertise to provide professional  services and consultancy as needed, provides comprehensive training and advice to staff and students. 

Medical services

KIIT has made all provisions for its students through sports, games, fitness, recreation, gym, Yoga etc. Medical facility in the campus, as well as beyond, is provided by a 1300 bedded super speciality hospital attached to Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences, a KIIT University constituent, which provides free medical consultancy to its students. 

Campus life

KIIT Group of Institutions is spread over 25 sq. km. of land accommodating 20 sprawling wi-fi campuses with 7.5 million sq.ft. built up area. All campuses are named after the famous rivers in India. From Krishna to Kaveri and from Kharasrota to Kathajodi (names of the campuses), buildings in a variety of architectural styles have been designed to blend harmoniously into the aesthetically manicured landscape. KIIT University campus is as beautiful and famous as the Temple city of Bhubaneswar and serves as an ideal place for bringing up enlightened scholars.

Sports facilities

KIIT Stadium has the capability to hold day & night matches and can seat upto 40,000 spectators. It has facility for Cricket (turf wicket), Hockey (astroturf), Kabaddi, Football, Volleyball, Kho-Kho, Throwball, Basketball, Rugby, Handball, Netball and Track & Field (400 m).

KIIT Sports & Fitness Centre has a swimming pool, multi-gym, besides facility for other sports and games.

Student clubs

KIIT Student Activity Centre(KSAC) aims to bring all the students of the university under one roof with objective of establishing a common ground for extra-curricular activities as well as ensures a holistic environment for sharing of talent, culture and innovative ideas. Focusing on fostering leadership through student involvement, students are brought together through a broad range of student activities.

In addition to that, KSAC organizes events comprising of different genres such as delegation, workshops, cultural, Fests etc which help students work as Organizers to develop interpersonal skills such as Positive Attitude, Relationship Management & Team management.
