History
As the flagship national university for the Jeollabuk-do Province, it was founded in 1947 by the provincial fund within the framework of the Korean national university system, following the liberation of the country.

Housing services
Students registered in the Intensive Korean Language Course may apply to live in the campus dormitory during the course. The dormitory fee charged is based upon the regulations of the CBNU Residence Hall, and is subject to change without any prior notice.
Library services
The University has a very resourceful library system, which is one of major academic research libraries in Korea. It was founded in 1955 as the Central Library of Chonbuk National University. The library system consists of the Central Library, the Medical School Library and the Law School Library.
