Since Queen Elizabeth II opened the first University of Lincoln building on the Brayford Pool Campus, we have welcomed more than 90,000 students from across 135 countries. Today, we are listed in the world’s top 150 universities in the Times Higher Education’s (THE) Young University Rankings 2020, and hold a top five-star score overall in the QS Stars rating system of global universities.

History

As a student at the University of Lincoln you will be living in one of Europe’s great historic cities, with a history dating back as far as 300BC. Alongside remains from Lincoln’s Roman heritage, the city is also home to a number of historical buildings and landmarks, including Lincoln Cathedral which was built in 1072 and was once the tallest building in the world. 

Education

The University of Lincoln provides a challenging and supportive environment in which to undertake study or research. We offer a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across four academic Colleges and Schools, and our academic teams are involved in research at the leading edge of their disciplines, from developing new antibiotics and more effective cancer treatments, to tackling the digital divide, and preserving historical artefacts.

Research

From developing new medical technologies to help improve cancer treatments, to exploring innovative ways to enhance accessibility in museums for an ageing population, the research of Lincoln’s staff and students is making a real difference to society.

In the latest Research Excellence Framework (REF), more than half of the University of Lincoln’s submitted research was rated as internationally excellent or world-leading.

Situated at the heart of our Brayford Pool Campus, the Student Support Centre brings many key services together, providing a central point of contact that can link you with the appropriate team. Our specialist teams offer free, impartial, and confidential advice and information on an array of topics, from fees, funding, and making payments, to housing, visas, and legal advice 

Housing services

The University offers a variety of accommodation options to suit different needs and budget, from on-campus accommodation in our Student Village to University-managed developments and third party provider halls of residences just off-campus. Lincoln was named as one of the most affordable student cities in the UK, within The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2020. 

Library services

Choosing where to live while studying is a big decision and it’s important to take the time to find out what’s available and what would best suit your needs. The University of Lincoln’s dedicated ICT team is available to help support students with a range of technical services and functions.

Medical services

After you have completed the registration process, you will be able to access health care services through the University of Lincoln Health Centre which is located in the heart of our Brayford Pool campus. The Centre, which is operated by the NHS, specialises in looking after the health needs of students.

Campus life

The University of Lincoln’s striking city centre campus provides a modern student-centred community. Based on the picturesque Brayford Pool waterfront, almost everything you’ll need is either on campus or a short walk away. At Lincoln, we constantly invest in our buildings and facilities as we strive to provide the best learning environment for our students.

Sports facilities

The University of Lincoln Sports Centre, is located on the Brayford Campus. Offering an extensive range of facilities, the Sports Centre is the hub of activity to keep you healthy and active throughout your time at University. We cater for all levels and abilities in each area of our facility, including fitness suites, sports hall, football pitches, dance, boxing and spinning studios.

Student clubs

Joining a club or society can be a great way to make new friends, creating bonds that can last a lifetime. Lincoln Students’ Union offers more than 150 different sports and societies which students can take part in. They range from academic groups like the Computer Science and Law Societies, to less traditional clubs such as the Harry Potter and Pokemon Go Societies.
